In addition, the number of the rouge application from applicants who only seek visa invitations are also growing.
However, there are ways applicants can assure high positions, and conference secretariats can detect rouge applications from applicants that only seek visa invitations from MUNPlanet and Linkedin accounts.
Conference Secretariats receive many delegate and chair applications, and often the competition for certain positions are fierce.
So what can the applicants do?
In the application form, applicants can paste the link address of their MUNPlanet account, which can contains a lot of information about the individual, and the more that the person adds to the account the more the secretariat know about the qualifications of the applicant. Therefore, it is also good that the account holder also adds some questions and articles as well, so their can demonstrate their experience and MUN participation.
As a person who has been Secretary General and conference organizer quite a few times, I can assure that the conference Secretariat almost always tries to find more information about all applicant before accepting the application and designating the country position.
This helps especially if the applicant is interested in a leadership position in the Secretariat or a Chairing position.
This also helps if applicants need a visa invitation form the conference. If the secretariat sees that the applicant is involved at MUNPlanet, the more likely they will send a visa invitation.
LinkedIn accounts also help in the application process, as the secretariat team not only sees the MUN experience of the applicant, but also the professional record. This is especially important if the applicant is interested in a leadership position in the secretariat or a chairing position at the conference.
MUNPlanet also offers the option for a user to link his/her LinkedIn account to their profile, which makes it easier for secretariat members to access the accounts (see the picture bellow).
