How do you feel when you see your dream job or scholarship being advertised?
On the same note, have you ever thought that when you apply for a job, on the other side of the application are companies and institutions that receive hundreds of applications for a single position or scholarship?
The market is getting more saturated and competition is greater than ever before. Hence the job application process has to change.
If you are a candidate using traditional methods of finding a job or earning a scholarship, then you should read this article carefully.
I have sent many applications forms so far but only a few were successful.
Yet, failure after failure led me to come up with a unique method that helped me win the application game and right now I get to be up to 95% successful in every application I make — be it for funding, a scholarship or a partnership!
So there it goes:Step one
Don’t forget that on the other side of the process there is a person reading lots of applications. Someone who has to find a way to keep that number manageable.
It’s a person with feelings and it is your task to activate them.
Be raw, honest and “authentic”. Be yourself when you fill in the application form, so that it can be unique. Feelingsisthe way to stand out from the crowd. Because the majority of people “try to be strictly professional” and forget that a person and not a machine that reads their application!Step two
A cover letter should be a storytelling. Don’t hesitate to narrate your life journey in this letter. Make a list of your achievements ANDyoufailures in your life. Go back in time…How did you start? What were your dreams? What were the decisions you made? What led you to each next step?
Talk about your achievements in an emotional level, in a level that makes you proud of your path. Do not simply point facts and previous positions. These are important but more or less everyone has them. What makes you unique is the way you have experienced this journey so far!Step three
Try to connect your current situation to what the employer or the institution offers. Explain why this job, scholarship, funding will be a stepping stone to a greater you!Step four
Talk about your future. Describe in details what you would like to do in the coming years. Can you imagine your life in five years? Explain why this job opportunity or scholarship is perfect for you and how crucial it is for your life that you get this opportunity at this very moment.Step five
What is going to happen if they don’t choose you? Explain how this will affect not just your life but also the firm or the institution. Make clear what you can offer, what differentiates you from the other candidates. Highlight that your unique approach and perspective will be an extra asset to the company.
There is no step 6. The above simply work if done carefully and with a whole heart!
