But partying when you know that you have
important issues to talk about in the morning is a whole different level.
Participating at BEUM does not only bring cultural awareness, thorough
knowledge of global issues, hundreds of friends and a whole new set of skills…
It also introduces you to an upbeat lifestyle and serious multitasking.
You've applied and decided to take part in BEUM 2016 (good move). You're patiently going through a process of becoming a good delegate; endless preparation and reading through Study Guides, articles in foreign languages and discovering laws, governments and traditions of the delegation you represent before you finally take off for Belgrade:
But you pack your essentials, gala attire and business clothes and before you know it you've started the trip and arrived to the capital. You take your luggage and part for a sighteeing tour. Strolling through Knez Mihailova, visiting Kalemegdan, relaxing with a cup of traditional coffee with the wonderful look of the Danube river, visiting monuments and museums... While you still haven't discovered the wilder side of the city:
Before you know it your eyes are filled with amazement as the feeling of fresh taste of culinary arts and good wine make you feel like home. The conference may not have begun yet, but the evening meet-ups of arrived delegations have. You soon realize how Belgrade and BEUM are a bit more fun than you anticipated:
As you're getting to know your colleagues and co-delegates, you inevitably make the mistake of discussing world politics. *it always happens*
Rookie mistake or veteran enjoyment? Remains unclear. But having tipsy discussions is not as easy as you thought and your arguments are mixed with bass, interrupted by drinks and a couple of good dance moves, however you still have to prove a few points, because you really are the PM of the country you represent and you will, of course, fight for what you think is the good way to go. *or you're at least going to send a few free drinks to the opposing delegations*
After hours of discovering kafanas, splav life, strange mix of techno and folk and after numerous heated discussions it's time to make up, head to the venue and bring your best(est) arguments to the table (despite the fact that the last night's fun left you a bit unprepared for the problems left to be tackled).
Summing up Belgrade and its vivid alluring life is not the easiest task. However, if you want to experience it first hand, you still have until October 15th to apply and take on this great adventure.
