For over than a decade earth has changed, the arctic ice has melt, extreme weather is formed, drought, flood, typhoon and other instability in the natural environment that caused by human activities that used environmental unfriendly fuels such as coal, and fossil. Taking the idea of climate justice into account which dedicates itself to action in order to realise its vision of a world engaged in the advancing of climate justice where every country should have an equal amount of effort in fighting climate change regardless their level of carbon to making sure the sustainablity of their country economy, society, as well as politics stability in order to fulfill their national interest to protect and create a lucrative environment for their country and citizen but also contributing to the stability of the earth, the place where all country exsist.
Energy is very important to stimulate every sector within one country, since every countries has ratified the paris agreement; Meaning that countries are agree to tackle climate change succesfully through coorporation and determination. it is a fact that Oils and petroleum are the main source of energy, but the truth to be told the price is instabile, its has effect on environment, and also since it is unrenewable it can easily run out. A lot of developing nations are facing the exact same problems in their energy sector which is fossil fuels dependence, in Indonesia,we strugled with our dependece of oils shown by the statistic of energy usage of indonesia in which indicates more than 90% of its energy sectors are using fossil fuels where on the other hand, the ussage of renewable energy sources only make up to 1% of the statistic.
the urgency of using renewable energy resources is getting clearer as Indonesia has already agreed to reduce 29% of its green house emission through Paris Agreement mechanism. it is very clear that indonesia needs to maximize the usage of renewable sources. hence it needs a bilateral coorporation with country who has an effective and successful policy in energy sector especially in renewable energy.
Indonesia is a country with a great potential of renewable energy resources, according to the minsitry of energy and energy concervation Indonesia has tottal of 801,2 GW. Of renewable energy yet we only only utulized 8,66 gigawatt which means we only utilize roughly 1% of tottal 100%. The data also shown that we has heat power potential up to 29,5 GW, yet once again the government only utulized 5% of it. hydro power 75 GW, means 7% out of 100%. Bioenergy potential 32,6 GW, used only 5,3%.
Meanwhile, solar energy sector has 532,6 GWp potential and only the government only utilized 0,08 GWp as for wind and sea power are each 113,5 GW and18 GW. yet, only 0,01% and 0,002 are used. Not only for the natural renewable energy resources Indonesia also has its potential energy contributor coming from unexpectable donor which is waste, in Indonesia each year the citizen made up to 67 ton of waste which is another source of potential energy for Indonesia. Hence with all of those advantage that Indonesia has, Indonesia should be able to transform it self to a more energy independent and more environment friendly in its energy sector instead of relying more than 90% of its energy supplied to Oils or fossil fuels.
Here is a little insight from Renewable energy sector potential and utilization in my country Indonesia from what i know, and i really interested in knowing how your country is also doing. :3
