Previously it was just a problem faced by computers and smartphones but, now cars can also be affected by data theft, you see cars are also connected to the internet all the time. Another disadvantage for cars is that they do not have a firewall built in them which makes them an easier target when compared to other IoT. So, to protect their communications protocol and prevent any data theft it has become necessary to equip them with security software. Companies like Harman and CISCO offer car cybersecurity systems which can give your vehicle a security shield and prevent any cyber-attacks.
• Accidents – Accidents can also be caused if the car’s security system is compromised as a car can now be controlled via a computer too, and if the security is breached then a hacker can take control of the car and do anything.
Many companies now offer a cyber-security analysis center which helps the car user to keep track of the vehicle’s security 24/7 and keeps sending the data to the security company. Systems like these have become a necessity in today’s time due to the increase in cyber-attacks. Cars being our daily driver should not be compromised in terms of security.
