An exam is the only topic which gives you stress even as you write about it. For many students, the exam period is when one doubts their abilities, and despite all the study you have done so far, it still feels like it’s not enough. It is normal to feel anxious towards exams.
The challenge comes in when it grows and becomes debilitating. You can seem
to focus even on the little things such as theimg letter of recommendation writing service. Everything, including your study, revision, and conversation with colleagues, becomes overwhelming.
What was once doable becomes tedious. How then do you overcome this?
1. Take a Break
It isn’t easy as you have to battle the urge to immerse yourself in your books regularly. A short walk in silence will do you some good. Take time off to meditate. It will help you focus, better.
2. Stay Positive
Confidence in yourself is necessary to brave the exam before you. You have already done the best you could, concerning studying and revising. It’s not time to demonstrate that. And since you have sat and completed other papers, this shouldn’t be any different.
3. Eat Right
In this period, times seems to be flying by without getting anything done. And food is the least of your worries. Lay off the burgers and caffeine. Yes, you will feel energized but will crash later. Stock up onnutritious foods, including fruits and vegetables.
4. Don’t compare
As you sit your exam, please don’t look at what others are doing. It is tempting since you could be aiming for the same top residency programs. But it will only increase your anxiety. Let them keep scribbling, just focus on you and the test.
5. Start Your Studies early
You know yourself. If you aren’t among the blessed last-minute readers, then you’ve got to study early in the semester. It gives you time to grasp the information and prepare. Come exam time; you will only need to peruse through your revision notes and try some past papers.
Confidence inyour preparationhelps you to approach the tests, with confidence.
6. Let It Out
When you are feeling pressed for time and overwhelmed by everything, you need some time to let it all out. Find someone to talk to, preferably one you can speak openly to. Scream or shout, whatever works for you, just to de-stress.
As you study, or when you enter the exam room and feel your stress levels rising, just breathe deeply. First, slow down the breathing the inhale and exhale. It has worked many times for me. It will keep you calm, as the body turns on its parasympathetic nervous system.
It will slow down your racing mind and a beating heart.
It helps in managing stress. You also get to re-energize your brain. Stay active, do some aerobics, or try out yoga. Go for a jog with friends, learn boxing, or take a walk. You will perform better without building up your stress levels.
9. Adequate Sleep
It isn’t the time to pull an all-nighter. It will only make the situation worse. Getting enough sleep, will help you improve your concentration on the test day. Leave the search for recommendation letter writing service, for later, if time is running out. You should try and get at least 7 hours of sleep.
On the exam day with the test paper before you, dive in. Don’t stare at the blank page. It will make you more nervous.
