Some people think that helping people is the welfares' duty. I personally don’t. I feel like it is our responsibility to help others in need, especially young kids who don't even have even enough to buy a simple pen to write.
When the education become a burden on these families, they started sending their young children to work in the streets to earn some money for the necessary supplies. This way, they neglect their children's learning. So I started a small organization called "Us for Them". We sponsor children by giving them school equipment they need, along with winter clothes. The kids are always waiting for someone to help them so I drive my car all the way to North Tunisia to provide them with an access to necessities: food, clean water, and clothes
We also share our desire to provide opportunities to poor people. This is a great opportunity to meet new people and acquire new skills. All funds raised are given to the children living in the streets, and the elementary school in Bizerta. I try to give the kids, especially the girls a hope. And I can see that hope in their eyes, as they always ask me to bring them books rather than clothes. They feel that books are their way of escaping the harsh reality and imagining a better world. Each time I meet them, I try to teach a few words in English.
Moreover, once the word spread about my organization, people started coming from all over the town and helping me with everything that could be of use for these kids.
Furthermore, I must add that kids are not the only focus of my organization, at least not directly. Beside kids, I also take care of their streets and the town. I am constantly trying to get enough people to help me paint their school, for example.
I would also like to share with you a simple story about the women living here and how strong they are. I respect them very much, because they manage to live on a low-income and the economic conditions which are worsening all the time. Almost half of working mothers who are low-income are employed in retail and service sector jobs that pay low-wages, limit hours and fail to provide benefits such as health insurance.
I believe that success of every nation is based on its well educated young people. Also, people who milk the cows and take care of the lands are the strong pillar of every country’s economy. They improve it on many levels so it is our duty to provide for their basic needs.
Dear MUNer, to be successful in your life you have to ask yourself "WHAT DO I WANT". I asked myself that question and I found out that helping people is my passion. Once you find that answer for yourself, than you can say that you have succeeded in your life.
