One of the questions we often receive here at MUNPlanet, a hub of young entrepreneurs among other things, is how to decide on where to launch a startup. What qualities should one pay attention to? What city is the best to start a startup in? Well, people over at TechInsurance made a report on Best Places to Live for Tech Entrepreneurs. Their findings on what business owners look for in cities were as follows.
Most entrepreneurs mentioned community support as a significant element to their entrepreneurial experience. For example, this is true in Midwestern cities in the US where small business owners work together because they view it as helping the community as a whole.
2. Low cost of living
Today, entrepreneurs launch their startups in smaller cities because they are cheaper. The less you have to spend on utilities and bills, the more you can use for your business.
3. Infrastructure support for IT startups
Most startups today have something to do with technology which is why it is important that the city supports and encourages technological advancements. Namely, Jacksonville, FL created a whole council to focus on growing IT businesses in the city.
4. Family friendliness
Although probably not right now, most of us are looking to start a family one day. From there, it is logical why this would be an important factor.
How about you? Would these be important for you? Do you have any to add?
