This is a given, isn't it? A CEO has to be a visionary. She needs to be able to predict the future, and have a plan for what the company will look like in 10 years. She needs to see all the business opportunities that pop up, the potential problems and the solutions to them.
Having a vision without being able to execute it well means nothing for you as a CEO. You have to be able to act on your ideas and business opportunities in order to be a successful CEO.
Although a CEO certainly won't spend time doing detailed administrative details of running a company, but she should be the master administrator of the company. She will organize, plan, but also monitor and keep track of everything happening.
Passion is what keeps you going. It keeps you motivated, and we all know that motivation in combination with persistence is what makes things happen. In order to stay motivated even with all the problems you might face, you have to be passionate about what you're doing and have thick skin to persist.
You need to be able to communicate your passion to your employees in order to motivate and inspire them. You need to be able to communicate problems and solutions to your team. Good communication skills are necessary to receive feedback. Finally, you have to be able to communicate with your audience, investors, etc.
You can't know everything and there will always going to be something that you don't know. That's when you have to be able to adapt to survive - the art of pivoting.
