BU Brands was founded by Jeff and Josie Kletter in order to
provide the market with high-quality and environment-friendly sunscreen and UV
apparel. It was a company found out of love for each other, love for the
environment and support for self-acceptance. Jeff and Josie were two lovebirds
who met each other 25 years ago and they fall in love with each other and
embarked upon their journey to make a forever together.
Not only were they great as husband and wife, but they also realized that their urge to co-operate and ability to understand each other got them working together really well. On top of that, they wanted to help people who couldn’t enjoy the outdoor life without being worried about being sunburnt or suffering from skin cancer. With love and empathy, they started their business BU Brands.
These guys weren’t amateurs at all. Josie Kletter had over 26 years of
experience in the skincare business whereas Jeff had over 22 years in the
sunscreen business. Fast forward to 1994, the power couple co-founded and
launched a line of "sport" related skin and sun care products under
the company name of KINeSYS. The venture was a huge success because the products
were sold all over the world. By 2014, they sold the business and decided to
divert their attention to their 3 children, their dog and their cat. A
wholesome family, indeed.
It was then decided that they will launch a new line of sun protection products that would reflect their faith in life. Henceforth the name, BU which loosely translates to "be you!"
BU Brands' foundational principles revolve around caring for your skin and the environment. The premise of the environment pillar in BU Brands stands upon the three prestigious R's-Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. All the bottles that they produce for their products are 100% recyclable because they are devoid of Bisphenol-A. Additionally, they make sure that while producing there is nothing that has to go in excess, especially with the packaging material. If it so happens that that does happen, then they resort to using cardboard which is post-consumer recycled already.
Their products are not tested on animals and they are devoid of any cruelty. They don’t contain any animal derivatives either. BU brands produces sprays which can be manually used (finger-powered instead of the pressurized ones). These non-aerosol pharmaceutical-grade sprayers disperse an ultra-fine mist and can be recycled. The bottle size has been approved by TSA for its carry-on ability and allows the user 500 sprays per bottle. If this wasn’t enough, their products are carbon-neutral because they searched meticulously for a GMP compliant manufacturer that works through solar power.
We can all learn from BU Brands that if we want to help the planet, we have to first do something about the choices we make. You reap what you sow. So, minimize your carbon footprint in as many ways as you can for example turning off the computer, television, air conditioner or microwave when you are not using them. There is so much awareness in the world now that not to take care of the environment would be a deliberate act.
