H&M, which started this action in 2013, is once again calling for customers to hand in the clothes they no longer wear. This year, they have teamed up with global superstar M.I.A. who exclusively released a music video to promote this initiative.
In an effort to help the environment and raise awareness of the problems the world faces today, H&M will take your old textiles, and do something better with them. In return, they will reward with a voucher for their store. All you have to do, is take your unwanted clothes to the nearest H&M store.
H&M has collected thousands of unwanted clothes over the years. These textiles are taken to a processing plant to get sorted. From there, they are either re-worn, reused or recycled.
Clothing in good condition is forwarded to second-hand stores. Textiles too used or too torn become other products, such as cleaning garments. Finally, everything else is recycled and used to create new clothing items.
This year, their goal is to collect 1000 tonnes of textiles. Do you think they will meet their goal? And will you take your old clothes to the nearest store?
