People always talk about saving the environment, protecting it, but why? Their answers ultimately converge into one,to save their (human kinds) skin.
"We need to stop pollution because a polluted environment is harmful to us."
A very self-centred reply, isn't it?
"We need to protect endangered species because they're going to extinct real soon!"
But what species are you protecting? The magnificent looking ones which provide high aesthetic value to human kind? What if a species of ant goes extinct? Will anyone fuss about it?
My answer: "Because I empathize the environment."
She was surprised by how unconventional my answer was.
I feel that our environment was/is/will be treated nothing more than an instrument, being used over and over again, and humans take her for granted. She continues to give and receives only a little. Sometimes she throws tantrum by invoking some catastrophic disasters, then humans call her a bitch. She is a mere asset to provide and I feel that she needs more love than anyone of us. I want to protect her, wanting her to know there's still people trying to protect her for her own sake.
And that, is my answer. What about yours?
Are you protecting the environment, or are you protecting human kind?
