For the past six years, I religiously promise to myself that every year is my last one conducting MUN trainings just to later being unable to resist joining yet another one. This summer, after having worked for and with all the big “MUN heads” of the training industry I had the chance to join the most charming MUN Company to date, the Italian Diplomatic Academy and specifically the FWWMUN team organizing a one-week professional certificate course in World Politics and International Negotiations. The structure of the course included a mini MUN exercise following several trainings concluded with experts in their respective fields.
In theory, I qualify for what we would call a “global trainer” given that my gavel and I have travelled so far to four continents with the aim of spreading the mun virus. Therefore, as a person who has seen a lot and thought that getting impressed was not going to happen that easily, I was positively overwhelmed by the dedication and rare professionalism of this company.
To be more specific, having a European organization active in this field is, personally at least, a huge relief since similar working mentalities facilitate trainings a lot. In other cases, I would have to extensively research beforehand, just to understand how some companies work and ensure that I am not going to face any problems whilst delivering any trainings at all. Additionally, when involved in summer seminars in the best context possible is extremely encouraging to increase your enthusiasm about the task on hand! In industry terms, the stipend is the highest possible, accommodation pack boosts your confidence better than sugar and the groundbreaking networking opportunities offered on the spot enable you to realize the “drop the M from MUN” every MUNer has gushed about doing. On top of all that, explaining traditional MUN inside the UNHQ thus strengthening the bond and interest of the wider MUN body to the UN in an effective and creative way, serves as another indication of their working ethics. Do not forget the global scale of participants with 150 people coming from 50 different countries. In other cases, having 40 from 4 countries was seen as a tremendous success…
To reiterate and ensure that you will seek out working with them in the future, one well-paid week in a truly perfect setting with you transmitting your passion about MUN! You want it to teach in NY and anywhere else they will go next and we both know it, no need to be jealous! Just google them, follow them and you may be their next trainer! Let me now introduce you to the team that makes MUN even greater. As I earlier mentioned, this workshop was organized by the team of FWWMUN, a program of the Italian Diplomatic Academy. So, what did I learn after spending a week with Italians?
Firstly, elegance is in their genes. These people breathe in Vogue and breathe out awesomeness. Next, to them, you would be able to spot me faster than Waldo; I was the one with the cat-ears hair band and sneakers walking alongside the models. Also, just to let you know I am going for a gender-based presentation.
Martina d’Alessandro: seemingly sweet and fluffy but in reality is one of the most hardworking people out there! Accurate in her observations and really up for perfection with anything she gets involved at! She was my partner in crime when chairing the mini MUN and you want her in your team, trust my dinosaur eye on that! She is not afraid to ask the right questions when necessary, spot problems in the blink of an eye and leads by giving a good example she is not bossy but effortlessly independent. People like her, serious, self-aware and with a fascinating range of knowledge are the ones capable of marking the next era of simulations we are already going through and put my gavel to rest with confidence that the activity of simulations is in good hands.
Adalberto Gelmi: If Italy was a person, it would be him. I am not exaggerating he is the living embodiment of all things positive that come first at mind when talking about Italy. He is painfully cool to ignore, extremely hard working but he loves whatever he does so awesomeness is the only forward for him as well. Critical thinker, born CEO style, he is the event organizer you want. He knows how to get everything done in no time and his MUN observations, sometimes, were even better than mine! Think of someone you want to turn to regardless of what’s going on because you instinctively trust his remarks on an ongoing situation. He is one of the people you would offer a lot to just to get him on your team and you really want to do so, he is upgrading every single thing with his breathing perfection.
Alberto Perra: “If behind every successful man, is a woman” then behind every successful and lasting MUN action is Alberto. I really am out of words to describe this man, so I am going to put it extremely simple. He knows how to change things, create companies from scratch and he is a diplomat at all occasions, think of someone who wrote the improved version of the style as an abstract notion and is teaching you how to follow him with his actions, even in the smallest things possible! An amazing trainer as well, he is a delight to have around since he has the Midas touch in terms of perfection! You should remember his name because you will definitely see it in the future and call him if you are in the mood of creating history in any field, he is your person.
Maxton Ralph Scotland: Not at Italian, but certainly an honorary one in terms of style. He is an already well-known figure and I am running out of words here, so I am just going to tempt you and say that meeting him is a must!
Abramo A. Chabib: Another must meet person in your simulation story! I am not going to write more, just say that he can be the one to drastically change the simulation sphere and he is really a delight to chat with!
These are pretty much everything I wanted to share with you, hope to have increased your curiosity to meet them or follow their work which was my purpose, not going to lie. Have fun and keep exploring the muniverse!
