Gone are those days when one used to rely only on prescribed drugs as a means to combat body ailments and diseases but thanks to this smelly super vegetable, most body infirmities are being subdued.
Garlic ( Allium Sativum), is a medicinal vegetable that is more than just a spice in flavoring dishes and recipes but a nutritive medicine usually consumed raw with water or honey which helps flush out food poisoning by killing bacteria like: E-coli, Salmonella, Enteridis, through its active organic compound; Allincin.
It is best to expose raw crushed garlic to exposed air for at least 5 minutes before intake in order for the compounds to be fully activated.
Chewing raw garlic is highly nutritive in that it helps reduce blood pressure comparably to the use of prescribed drugs. Following reports from the 2013 study published in Pakistan Journal of Pharmaceutical sciences, Aged garlic ranging between 600- 1500gram was found more effective to drug “ Atenol”.
A healthy adult can consume up to four cloves of garlic daily with each one weighing a gram.
Fresh garlic is highly medicinal to the point that it helps prevent cancer of the stomach, colon, breast, pancreas that could likely inflict the body.
When Garlic is cooked, the body may likely not feel its nutritive presence because the garlic enzyme is inactivated. This reduces the chances of Allincin; the primary component to be produced to provide the body some health benefits including the ability to prevent cancer.
Blood clots, heart attack, stroke are supplemented by fresh garlic as arteries are being closed to prevent the passage of any bacteria or infection which could provoke heart illnesses.
Not only does raw garlic manifest its functions internally but equally does externally. A head full of hair that smells like garlic could help treat hair loss as it rich with the sulphur content; keratin. The 2007 study published in the Indian Journal of Dermatology, Venerology and Leprology found a garlic gel that can be used to sponsor hair growth.
Daily garlic can reduce the number of colds by 63% to not taking supplements. Findings suggest that, the allincin which contains some active compounds has a protective effect against cold.
