These are turbulent times for life. As individuals every day we are witnesses of some kind of crime, from terrorist groups, corruption, religious extremism, government destruction etc. According to Newton's third law-action and reaction is completely expected from people around the world to react and to use non-violent methods like: protest, performance, peaceful march... to express their rage for problems.
But what would you do if the government decide to up vote new law where it would be illegal for citizens to gather in front of government buildings without permission from authorities, in this are also included other different institutions from universities to hospitals. Organizers of unauthorized demonstration could be fined up to 600 Euros, also in case you decide to film or photograph police officers, or disrespecting theme you will be fined up to 600 Euros.
This is not just a debate question, it's a real situation happening in Spain. As a response to the new law, presented in public as "The Gag Law", Spanish activist decided to organize the world first hologram protest.
A holography is a photographic technique that records the light scattered from an object, and then presents it in a way that appears three-dimensional. Holograms pop up in movies such as "Star Wars" and "Iron Man". Various types of holograms have been made over the years, including transmission holograms, which allows light to be viewed from the side, and rainbow holograms, which are used for security purposes- on credit cards and driver's licenses for example. To create a hologram you need an object (or person) that you want to record, a laser beam to be shined upon the object and the recording medium with the proper material needed to clarify the image and a clear environment to enable the light beams to intersect. -That is a short description from engineering and scientific aspect.Spanish activist used the holography technique and on a sarcastic way the realized world's first hologram protest. The movement 'NoSomosDelito'(We are not crime)- first created web page: HOLOGRAMS FOR FREEDOM, where they have fully exposed their position and reasons why they organize this hologram protest, also they used to power of the Internet to invite people around the world to participate in the landmark even by simply webcamming their face via the campaign website. More than 2000 projectors were used for the magic to happen on the streets in Spain.
One of the activist after the walk of thousands of hologram-people in front of the Spanish government said that "with the restrictions the citizens are suffering on their freedom of association and peaceful assembly, using hologram was the last option that left them to protest without a fear of being punished".
Into the past years different analyses and views were taken on the impact of the social networks and internet influence on organizing social actions. One say that the online platforms are the most positive thing that happened into the past years, they can provide information for a short period and allow people to organize from different parts of the world. Others blamed the Internet as guilty for the new social behaviors clicktivism and conformism. Regarding this hologram-protest we are witnesses of a new age of human-activism methods that will be implemented. Does this solution will bring some kind of impact to the current situation it remains to us to see that.
