But the real question is, do we actually know what HR is? We can find various definitions online which outline either its technical aspects and contributions to an organization or even the philosophical basis on which HR has founded its principles since the beginning of its existence in the early 20th century.
But in essence, we never find a definition that explains in a clear and definite way what it can do for us and how it can help us -how it can assist us on a professional, academic or even personal level. My love and enthusiasm for HR was the sole reason why I studied the topic twice, both at undergrad and post grad level and if you ask an HR professional or a college admissions interviewer, choosing the same subject degree twice is not advisable (we ‘ll get to why on a later stage). But I found that in depth knowledge of the mystical world of HR and surrounding myself with experts on the field (HR professors, HR managers) has actually contributed on how I deal with people around me, in essence it taught me how to deal with humans, how to manage my relationships with them and how to make sure I know how to handle myself (I am human too).
So my question today is: Do you know what HR is and what it can do for you?
