Model United Nations (MUN) has the power to impact people’s lives in ways some of us, even after 11 years, can’t quite comprehend. Everyone tells you all of the skills you get to acquire if involved in MUN, like public speaking, diplomatic argumentation, problem solving, communication and interaction, and interest on global current issues. But for me it has not only helped in all of the areas listed above, but has also given me so many amazing memories, lessons and best of all, friends which I have now all over the world, from London to Beirut and from Quebec to Bogota.
One of my favorite conferences to staff has been Global Classrooms International Model United Nations (GCIMUN) which takes part in New York City every year around the second week of May. This was my first international conference ever as a staffer in 2013, and getting to be part of organizing this conference for students from all around the world definitely impacted me, not only I have learned to work with people from different cultures, languages and backgrounds, but have learned to deal with delegates from all around the world.
With all this I have learned that all Model United Nations Conferences, just like TGIMUNC, are learning experiences for both delegates and secretariat members, not only because every conference is different, but because you will inevitably leave the simulation being a better world citizen than how you arrived.
For this, and so many reasons more I would like to invite YOU to join me this June in New Delhi for The Global Indian MUN Conference, the largest one yet; Be part of my experience and create your own.
