What is LeidenMUN?
Leiden Model United Nations Foundation (LeidenMUN) is a MUN society. Our core aim is to educate students to become successful delegates at MUN conferences and beyond. We thus familiarise students with international relations and the world of diplomacy. Currently LeidenMUN is experiencing a significant growth. We are attending more conferences with bigger delegations and greater success each year.
To establish a network of highly competent students that seek prospects in the field of international relations.
Our preparation track consists of simulation sessions, guest lectures and specialised workshops starting two months in advance of the conference. Additionally we organise a meet-and-great with ambassadors of the countries our delegates represent to get first hand advice on the country’s diplomatic conduct. Our students thus get the opportunity to develop the skills that are of key importance in their later careers: public speaking, lobbying, negotiation tactics and conflict resolution.
LeidenMUN is also expanding its additional activities. In the summer of 2013 we organised a “MiniMUN” conference for two hundred participants at the Campus The Hague, in cooperation with Leiden University College (LUC). In November 2013 we organised a similar conference in cooperation with study associations BIL (Bestuurskundigen in Leiden) SPIL (Studievereniging voor Politicologie in Leiden) and the faculty of Social Sciences of Leiden University. Moreover we have co-organized the Dutch Invitational MUN (DIMUN) of about one hundred students, in cooperation with United Netherlands, Utrecht University MUN and UNSA Maastricht which has taken place January 2014.
