It took place first in Rabat the capital of Morocco in November 2014, where we had 3 days of fruitful and interesting debates, I was representing Senegal in the UM Women committee, which is topic of high interest for me.
And then after those 3 days, the conference continued in Tangier, a city in the extreme north of Morocco, where we had the last debates, and where we wrote some Resolutions, giving some solution to actual topics and struggles of Women worldwide, and how we can solve, as representatives of countries in the UN Women, those urging problems.
This conference was maybe the most exhausting and tiring one, that I’ve ever attended, we needed to write speeches, debating arguments and final resolutions, which took us hours of hard working, we barely had time to sleep. We used to stay up hours, until 7am once to finish writing some consistent Resolutions.
This conference was my first one, and I must say, it gave me the opportunity to discover the MUN world, to gain practical skills, like: Soft Skills:
-The way we interact, the heights that we go to convince people on our agenda.
- I had to research a lot about your country and by doing that I gained a lot of information regarding your country. For example that the prime minister of Senegal is a Women, and an UN activist !
-I understood more how government works and how different wings of government work together -MUN is a small scale model of the actual UN assembly, so I learned something about UN
-Whilst representing the nation Senegal in the UN Women committee, I had to be diplomatic, so I learned diplomacy and understood why some decisions are not as easy to take as we think them to be
Other advantages includes improving my communication skills, team spirit etc What also made this conference a special one was discipline, the chairs and the Organisation Corp. A organization works on a set of rules, foremost being Discipline. Model UNs build your personality, from dress code to language filtration. From the developed nations to the underdeveloped all are treated with honor and given a fair chance to represent. Thus inculcating a feeling of justice and equality. By Working on The Global India Model United Nations Conference (TGIMUNC) , I will be using all this precious skills, try my best and work harder than ever, to make this Conference a total success, simply an amazing conference that no one will forget! I invite all of you reading this to join us in New Delhi for TGIMUNC, (tgimunc.com/apply/) you don’t want to miss it
