With so many options to choose from, let's look at reasons why you should attend an international conference.
1. You will meet other like minded people
When I attended the World Youth Right to Dialogue Forum in Trieste, Italy, one of the best parts was meeting other young people who shared the same values/ideas as I did. Having other young people who are passionate about human rights, development and united nations can help creating lasting relationships.
2. You gain employable skills
At the World Youth Right to Dialogue Forum I was required to write an academic paper and present it to peers. Researching, presenting and speaking on a topic helps you develop professional skills.
3. You travel to a new place
International conferences mean travelling abroad, and often, visiting a place you haven't before! Often funded, it is an opportunity to travel somewhere you wouldn't have the chance to have gone before.
4. You will learn a lot!
You will learn from other young people, other speakers, other presenters. You will learn about topics you had no idea about - like village community development in Borneo, or about Mother Nature as a means of Feminist discourse - you will widen your perspective about the world.
Want to experience these things? Apply for the TGIMUNC in New Delhi. One of the largest Model United Nation's in the world, it will bring together hundreds of High School and University age students from all over the world.
