Nowadays, it is the easiest thing to set up a Media Team Website where everything comes together: Your articles are posted, your tweets and Facebook posts are displayed in a plug in and galleries contain the latest pictures from the social event.
For a website which is of best use to both delegates and externals you should consider some features - that way, your website is accessible and interconnected!
Plug-ins for Social Media - many websites offer these with only a few clicks of work. Interconnecting your channels is the key to perfect exposure of your MUN Media - see for example How to use Social Media for your MUN Media Teamto learn more about using Twitter for instant reporting or shooting a crisis video for Youtube.
A Photo Gallery - this is where the delegates can find themselves, in the pictures from both sessions and the socials. Make them team up at the Socials for Group Photos, and have them send you their best shots! And do not forget to put your Watermark on those pictures! Maybe you can even add some of the pictures from Instagram?
A Gossip Box - or in eaiser terms - a contact form. With this contact form, you can collect quotes from delegates, submitted by them directly to you! Getting the juicy gossip was never easier. And at best, grant them anonymity - this way you get the real things out there. Of course, you are responsible that no bullying or insulting posts find their way on the website. The truth and only the truth.
A slideshow - in your slideshow, the newest articles are displayed for perfect exposure. At best, take the high quality photos you took yourself for that, and if you really need something else. Check theCreative Commons Search Engineto find images that are open to reuse in public domains! Do not infringe copy rights! Your teams integrity is on the line otherwise.
Tags - Tag your articles, interlink them. Use tags such as the Committees' abbreviations or the countries dominating the debate you reported on. Your tags are what helps your delegates to find similar articles once they finished reading.
Popular hosts for websites are for example
- Wordpress - get your website on there and get a premium account for your website. It is worth it. Many features, regular updates and your own domain. Do you have somebody in the team who is good with webdesign and graphic design? Even better - let's get this started!
Tumblr -for easy set-up a plain Tumblr might work for you but be aware - it has way less features and professionals should definitely opt for a proper website
And get this started... See some examples from other Media Bodies of Model UN conferences such as...
