Participating an MUN conference and having good times full of unforgettable memories sounds great but how about the kitchen of it where a huge amount of work is spent to make the organization as flawless as possible. The readers without organizational experiences may think “How difficult can it be to prepare a conference? The procedure is very well known, what you just need to do is to find delegates, arrange a basic schedule and stick to it.” I wish the case was that simple. Having been in the organizational teams of different conferences with distinguished positions, I can say that preparing a four-day conference requires much commitment and hard-work.
The preparation period generally goes as:
• Decide on the team
members, try to form the best one!
• Determine
the date, conference procedure, committees, committee topics and schedule
• Having formed the Operations
Team, be sure each department is on action
• Announce that the applications are open for
the available spots. While doing so be
careful with outreaching section; be active on social media but DO NOT mess
people’s timelines (Unless you manage well, it sometime becomes antipathetic.)
• ... and never hesitate to take help especially
from the experienced organizers on munplanet.com
Throughout this journey many obstacles will be on the road but with a pinch of patience and fore-sight, you will be able to jump over all of them easily.

Pre-conference: Starting from zero and creating a unique
conference is not easy but also not impossible. While forming your team, be very
careful! They are the people you will work together for nearly a year. Some may
not be aware of the importance of what you are doing and quit the position
without making a proper explanation. Also, there will be changes in the
schedule due to external reasons which you can do nothing about. That's why, beware of the need of plans B. You may not reach the target
number of delegates easily but do not let despair to demoativate you and revise
the work of your PR department.

During Conference: The day comes and here you go! It is now time to
show off your skills and make xxxMUN the best one… There is the basic problem
that nearly all conferences encounter with; some of the delegates representing the
countries substantial for that topic may not show up. Do not panic in such a
situation and think of the people you can ask them to be come as delegates. If
you cannot find any, members of the both teams will be bot delegates. The
shuttles may arrive late, the meals may be cold, weird demands from
participants may arise, supply of medical aid may be needed… For all these
problems to be solved, you have think calmly and evaluate possible solutions
fast.

Post-conference: The session may be closed but your job has not finished yet. Upload of the photos, deliverence of the forgotten certificates and much more but if you are really into MUN you will handle them easily.
