Organizing a conference or participating one is not compulsory of anyone but these are the extra-curricular activities we decide to do by giving up on many alternatives. So, we should get as much as benefit from them; not material but both moral and intellectual. It may become a hell or a paradise depending on the approach, experience and pace of the organization (operations) team. Of course, the academic team is also important but they do not have that much devastating or motivational effect on the participants. Let us see series of which unfortunate events may make your MUN conference notorious that will be remembered with pity forever.
Goes without saying, the first one is the conflicts between the team members. During a conference, organizers also become the animation team which is responsible for keeping entertained all the participants. If you are trying to entertain others, you should provide the solidarity within your team and have a problem-free environment. Otherwise the arguments between the organizers may grow and even evolve into fights. When you look from the eyes of a third person, this situation looks so bothering and causes your reputation to decrease dramatically.
Moreover, be organized well, very well. Theory and practice are much way different from each other. Theoretically, everything may seem fine and flawless but when it comes to practising, many unplanned and unpredicted problems start to occur. One or two may be easily recovered but as they increase so fast that you fail to handle them, a pile of problems may even cause some participants to get annoyed more than you can guess.
The best way of attracting delegates for the following conference is being advised by the participants of this year. If there exists something more effective than the social media posts prepared by your PR team, it is spread of your fame by organic ways as the advertisement made by the participants who ended the conference this year with a great joy and unforgettable memories. Try to solve all your problems without showing them explicitly and never lose your patience and the smile on your face :)
