Steve Jobs was right. In 1997 Apple commercial ‘‘Think different’’ the humankind was reminded once and for all that ‘‘the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.’’ As a young leader fond of Model UNs, you might feel misunderstood at times because the people in your surroundings consider you somewhat crazy, trying too hard, thinking differently. Since every day is precious and our time is the only irreversible resource, I want you to do two things TODAY:
1)Think how expensive and how miserable it would be for you to give up from your passion and to look back at your life once you grow old, realizing that you lived somebody else’s dreams instead of yours. If doing what you love means that the gossip people will think of you as crazy, while you are content with your life, I guess the choice is obvious. The quote that makes me shine on a rainy day is said byMihajlo Pupin, professor, inventor and one of NASA’s founders, ‘‘Nothing can make a man so content as his honest conviction that he did the best he could at any time.’’
Remember, every leader was misunderstood initially because innovation takes time to diffuse and to start being used by people.
2) Secondly, watch amazing Disruptive innovation festival online or in person for free over next 10 days. Ellen MacArthur Foundation with partners: thought-leaders, entrepreneurs, global businesses, learners are seriously committed to catalyze system-level change for a future economy.
