Day 0/ 30. March. It is officially my last day in Belgrade. Feeling sad but very exicited and looking forwad to Munef. Sara and I met and took a bus to the airport, there we met Dushanka. The check in was fast and easy. We arrived in Istanbul in the morning and spent were picked up by Sara’s really kind friend, and we left our luggages at her place and started to visit Istanbul. I was my second time in this huge city. It was Dushanka’s and Sara’s first time. We spent the day eating and sightseeing, when it was time to go to the aiport we were suck in traffic, which is very normal for Istanbul.
We made it back to the aiport and took our flight to Elazig, where the conference would tak place. We were welcomed by secetary general of Munef Dilara Alan, who made us feel welcomed instantly, and we were driven to the hotel were we finally met Mr. Anil and other members of the team. We were so exhausted, we all just went to bed.
Day 1/ 31. March. The next day, the opening ceremony and the first session began. I can assure you, that was an epic opening ceremony, it had it all, formal introduction and very entertaining activities such as, dance display, etc. There we chairs: me, Sara, Sahnedeep, Ibrahim, Jakon, Ana, Antoine met our very excited delegates who all wanted pictures with us. In that moment we felt really famous. Morever, the photographers did a terrific job, there were always there capturing every moment.
Day 2/ 1.April. The second session in my comitee (World Health on the topic of “Reducing Drug and Alcohol”) was fun and informative for my delegates. They introduced themselves and we had icebreakers just to get familiar with eachother.
The next day, we started the real session and debate. Folowing all the rules of procedure of MUN, we made the role call, speakers list and of course started points and motions. My delegates were participative and I am sure they learnt a lot since it was their first MUN. In the evening, we all went for dinner, which was a great way to bound even more. We had a party with enthusiatic attendees, so all of us, and we danced MACARENA and many other catchy songs. It was a fun night, because I gave my best on the dance floor, and we all also leanrt some turkish dance moves, which is to gather in a circle and start moving your feets while the circle is moving.
Day 3/ 2.April. In the third and final session, we worked on resolutons, even though my delegates were not really familar with it or did not undertand how it was suppose to be, they manage and did a fantastic job.
By the way, during sessons, we had breaks after every 1h30m sessions which was good and the amazing cupcake stand offered delicious snacks, the food at the canteen was also very good. Turkish food is simply the best. On the last day, we were taken to have dinner and I think most of us ordered fish, since we had been eating so much meat during the past few days in Turkey. The food was excellent and the company with the delegate and the chairs and board members, made it even better. On our way, in the bus to the hotel, we had karaoke time, which was so much fun and some arabic clases for Ibrahim, our Turkish chair who took interets in the Arabic langauge. We all said farewell on that night and lots of hugs and “SEE YOU SOON”.
Extra Day 4 (for me)/ 2.April. Everyone left on this day, which was sad but I was lucky enough to stay one more day. It was such a great day, because I visted the beautiful, paradise lake of Hazar. I was invited to a university to talk with some students about MUNs and finally had such a wonderful dinner and company at Mr. Anils` and his wife's house, accompanied by their friends. I will definitely remember the soulful trukish music and the turkish guitar.
To sum it all up, MUNEF was great because of the hardwork put into organizing everything, the team behind it, the amazing delegates and chairs, and the Turkish hospitality, be it from the organizers or even the workers of the hotel we were staying and the restaurants we were taken to. Everyone is just N.I.C.E in Turkey, and definitely expect to gain 5 more kilos becuase of the delicious food. Lastly, I want to say, it was a great experience for me to meet this young delegates with a bright future ahead of them and the friends I have also made and I will always remember the conversations with them.
