The famous French Riviera and southern coast have a lot more to offer than just beaches and sunny weather (though it's a very positive addition, that's for sure).
MEDMUN, for Mediterranean Model United Nations, offers a top quality simulation for MUN enthusiasts. You will probably feel like heading there after reading this article, I warned you!
Created in 2012 by Sciences Po students, MEDMUN aims at providing international students in Political Sciences, International Relations and related fields a sort of non-formal education for their future diplomatic careers. This MUN simulation focuses on the MENA and Mediterranean regions.
This is why MEDMUN 2017 will be offered in no less than four languages: French, English, Italian and Arabic. Its organising team, the largest ever seen at MEDMUN, brings together 31 team members from 13 different countries!
The main theme of MEDMUN 2017 will be "Population: Demographic Trends Upending Global Societies". It will tackle challenges such as the refugee crisis (in Europe, but also worldwide), the ongoing conflicts in South Sudan, the effects of climate change on migration, the access to education for women and girls within the MENA region and the many struggles of urbanisation.
The simulation will take place on March 24-26, 2017.
You can already apply as a delegate or as a chair!
This wasn't done only as a joke about a very serious issue faced by the MENA region, but also to help all delegates from all committees to better cooperate together. MEDMUN really wants its participants to fully seize what it's like to be a diplomat in real life!
But let's end this article on a less serious note: honestly, who would say no to spending a couple of days in one of the most beautiful regions of France, enjoying social events on the oh-so-glamourous French Riviera while simulating with tens of international students from various backgrounds and all that in 4 different languages?
Sorry, but if you say "no" to this offer, please give me your spot!
If you haven't noticed yet, Menton is kind of very close to two of my top 5 locations in France!
Many thanks to the amazing team behind MEDMUN 2017 for their help with this article!
