In this article I would like mostly emphasize the special program I’m studying in, called Global Governance. From the first glance majority might have some uncertainties and doubts, however, by discovering more you’ll see how fascinating course it is.
Before that, let’s start with fundamental background of mine and the reasons why I chose this way. After finishing the high school I’ve been accepted to the second oldest and one of the most prestigious universities of Azerbaijan. I was studying IT economics what is highly demanded and beneficial profession nowadays. But! Frankly speaking, I didn’t exactly know what I want to become in life (I still don’t!).
Look around! There are lots of outstanding specializations, careers to pursue. After watching “Suits” I’m passionate about being a lawyer, by impression of “Wall Street’ movie I get huge interest in the world of economics (that’s why I never watched “Magic Mike”). And it continues with a very-long list…
When you have so many passions it’s hard to give up on everything and completely dedicate yourself to one decision. That’s actually where Global Governance bail you out with great support in order to find best position for you in life. We have collaboration of professors from 6 different schools: Economics, Law, Arts and Humanities, Engineering, Science, even Medicine!
So, when I was thinking what to do (literally) with my life, I just found out about this program and haven’t lost a minute to apply for it. I mean, it gives me at least 3 more years to think with having practical experience in almost every field I like.
And we all love MUN-s, don’t we? My MUN career started approximately 10 months ago, when I participated in the first international MUN in Baku, Azerbaijan. I was amazed! For the upcoming MUN in Rome (one of the best in the world) my course will give two extra credits for the ones who will participate. Because the main point is to stimulate theoretical knowledge by having them in action.
Of course, nothing is flawless. It’s sometimes extremely hard to study, as you get tons of different information, attend seminars, talks with prominent professionals. But in the end you feel so proud of yourself that now you’ve broadened your horizons, expanded your knowledge and you’re completely different person (upgraded one).
Another essential point is the environment and the people you’re dealing with during the study. In this case, Global Governance is just doing great! Moreover, I was kindly surprised by the intellectual level of my classmates. Because I always considered myself as a smart one who has idea about almost everything and from the beginning of the lessons I noticed that there are many wise students with different approaches, fascinating thoughts. I’m daily learning new information from them too and we have such a great competition what keeps us in track constantly.
I can talk about formidability of this program all day long, unfortunately, it would be too much for one article. I tried to write down the most essential concepts.
Hope you’ll enjoy!
