Bringing those who seek knowledge together with those who have it is at the heart of MUNPlanet. The purpose of asking questions is to discover or recover knowledge areas, and we encourage you to ask thought-provoking questions about anything you are curious about, preferably open-ended, commencing with why and how. Feel free to be very active and creative, while respecting below-mentioned MUNPlanet question conventions our community has agreed upon.
Questions should be written in a proper language
Questions should be posed in English, start with capital letter, consist of complete sentence(s) and end in a question mark. Questions should adhere to MUNPlanet style guide.
Questions should be clearly written
Questions should be clear, using the question details field to provide context. Also, when posing a question, try using neutral form in a sense that the answer may apply to a class of MUNers. The advantage of posing neutral questions is that they are easily searchable on the platform.
Example: “How should the Editor-in-Chief recruit a Press Team members?”, not “How should I recruit a Press Team members”.
Explanation: Every community member who seek to learn the best recruitment techniques for his Press Team should find the provided answers helpful.
- Question title should be as precise and concise as possible
Questions should be concise and possibly clear from the title, as it is displayed in the search bar and elsewhere in our MUNPlanet community.
Generally, it should be no longer than two sentences, and only one question should be asked at a time.
Example: What is the difference between MUN points and motions? How to tie a tie?
- Question should be further described if seeking highly contextualized knowledge
The question description should be used to provide the context and further explanation that may be helpful to potential answerers of the question.
The question description should not be used to post an answer, another question or make an argument.
Example: If the question is “What is the optimal size of an MUN press team?”, then you should supply additional information or clarification about your conference’s size and projects goals.
- Question should reach members who are most likely to answer it
Question should be tagged with at least one main topic. This topic will provide context for the question, make its intent clearer and help you reach those MUNPlanet members who are likely to be interested in and qualified to answer it.
Once published, questions can be tagged with multiple related topics, but not overloaded. Kindly consult MUNPlanet Topics Policy for more information.
Example: If you are interested in the Syrian civil war and what is the UN engagement there, then you would want to make Syria one of the topics which would attract the attention of people who are interested in that topic.
- Questions should reach members specially invited to answer them
If you are seeking answers from specific community members, experts on certain topics, feel free to direct the questions to them specifically, but do not abuse this opportunity.
Example: If you are interested in finding out what it is like to work for World Food Programme you can pose your question directly to Mr Darko Petrovic, currently WFP Field Officer in Myanmar.
Questions should adhere to MUNPlanet Code of Conduct
Questions should be polite at all times. Those questions that contravene MUNPlanet Code of Conduct or constitute harassment and have the potential to make the experience of belonging to MUNPlanet community unpleasant or uncomfortable for both individuals and group(s) of members may be flagged by members and deleted by moderation.
