After spending years on MUNPlanet, one thing I always notice is whether someone has a profile picture. To my surprise, there’s still a lot of our members without one. In addition to generally looking more appealing, there’s a bunch of compelling reasons to add a photo to your profile. Without further ado, here’s why you should upload your profile picture to MUNPlanet just like you do to Facebook or LinkedIn:
1) Be Seen
There’s nothing wrong with being seen. Quite contrary, people will remember you if they see you. By having a picture you gain significant credibility and legitimacy. Furthermore, if someone knows you from your past, possibly a conference you’ve attended together, they will most likely recognize you.
2) Be Searched
In communities such as this one, you are being searched. We are all young people looking to improve ourselves by reading articles, communicating with each other, and attending events. Most of us are always on the lookout for a new job or opportunity. Recruiters from around the world will almost certainly skip your profile if there’s no picture. Did you know that in LinkedIn search results the profiles with photos are 7 times more likely to be clicked than those without photos?
3) Be Personal
Having a profile picture next to your name automatically adds a human element. Anyone communicating with you is more likely to sympathize with you if they can see who you are - a human being. It just becomes much more personal. This amazing community we have here is a niche community, and therefore we strive towards being more personal.
What crossed my mind is that some of you might have wanted to add a profile picture, but you didn’t know how. No worries, we’re here for you guys. Just follow these easy instructions!
