No matter how experienced in event planning, you will find yourself in situation where you are going to ask yourself if you thought of everything and if you missed anything. Organizers of MUNs are in the same position, so here are 6 questions you should be asking yourself in order to organize a conference well.
1.“Who should I choose for my team?” – The most important part of your organizing process is most certainly going to be choosing people for your team. The team should be composed out of variety of people with different interests who are both capable of effectively working individually and in a group.
3.“How to finance my conference?” – if you are a member of MUN club within a school or university you might already have some funds that can be used. However, that amount of resources is rarely enough to cover all the costs. For that reason, you should consider different ways of marketing and promotion, not only to get participants, but also attract sponsors.
4.“Is the venue ready?” – One of the important factors of organizing a conference is finding an appropriate venue that could accommodate all the participants. In addition, all logistics regarding the venue should be ready. Make sure that all participants know how to find the conference, make sure that there is a sufficient amount of refreshments and food needed for the conference.
5. “What is the conference going to be about?” – After you have decided on what committees your conference is going to have, it is time to think about the topics. Do you want to address a serious issue or you would like the discussion to be more relaxed? Do you want to raise awareness of some hot topic? While choosing topics, you have opportunity to make your conference unique. Think of ways you can make your conference different from others.
6. “Was is fun?” – The answer should be YES. Don’t forget that MUN conferences are about making friends and having fun through simulating UN conference. Make sure that your social events are well organized.
