What we do behind the scenes isn’t actually that glamorous! We spend most of our time answering emails from students from around the world, and reviewing applications to come on our course.
We’re also pleased to be welcoming a world-leading human rights barrister, Edward Fitzgerald QC, as our Lecturer in Law. Edward has defended clients from across the world, including Silvio Berlusconi, Myra Hindley, and Abu Qatada.
We’re also coming to the end of hiring our tutors. Every one of them is a cutting-edge academic in their field, from a range of backgrounds that spans across the world. There are almost too many of them to list individually, but you can see a list of them here.
And finally, we have finished our hiring our pastoral staff, which was a lengthy process which saw a number of enthusiastic Oxford students apply for the position. All our pastoral staff are educated at Oxbridge, which means that they understand some of the stresses that can come from studying in such an academic environment. Plus it means they know the best cafes and museums in the city!
We are also delighted to welcome Katie Braithwaite to the team. Katie graduated from the University of Cambridge with a degree in History. She sang with her college's choir and was also a member of the Opera Society whilst at Cambridge. She has travelled around the world with a variety of charities and loves engaging with young people. Most recently, she has spent time working for 'Comamos Juntos' in Nicaragua, an NGO which tackles food poverty and food waste in local communities.
