During my ICS-UK placement in Accra, I was asked to give an enterprise breakthrough presentation about any business that passed through a lot but still made it to the top; that was when the ICS volunteers were feeling down about not making much improvement in their assigned businesses. Through my ingenuity, I choose KFC as my breakthrough business and I told them about the series of failures on the path of Colonel Sanders (founder of KFC) and then gave them a takeaway motivation.
I said: sanders wanted to commit suicide because he was feeling like a total failure and as he sat on a tree writing his suicide letter and will he realised that there are so much he has not done yet.
Actually, he can do it better than anyone else cooking the best chicken that anyone has ever tasted, so he borrowed $87 to buy a fryer and his recipes ingredients. He tried to sell it door to door to his neighbours in Kentucky and also tried to licensed it to restaurants but he was rejected 1009 times to the restaurant he tried to license his recipe to. On his lucky day, the 1010th restaurant gave him his yes moment and that brought about the birth of KFC. It became a multi-billionaire company and also the second largest fast food chain in the world; its never too late to dream because Sanders was 88 years of age when KFC became a multi-billionaire company.
My dear friends, go after your wildest dreams now and believe in the quality of what you do and in yourselves because no matter how many times you may be rejected, push harder to make a difference and enhance the lives of people.
After my takeaway message everyone started greeting me with “go after your wildest dreams” they felt motivated by my speech and I saw considerable change in our group after that. In addition to this, after high school, I was not satisfied with my grades because I was likely not to be accepted into the law school so I registered with a certain private school in Kumasi to rewrite the exams. Burning the candles, when the results were released, I got an admission to the university of Ghana and however, most of the students who come to the place to rewrite their papers mostly have low self-esteem and lack the confidence of passing so I was called by the headmaster to give a talk to motivate the students after I was admitted into the University of Ghana.
Through my motivation and encouragement, when the results were released, their performance was impeccable that year. I also used to teach my fellows after class when I was a student there as I was the best student in my class.
