It is true that Instagram Stories isn’t the freshest of concepts but there is no denying that it is one of the most popular features of Instagram. Debuting in 2016, Instagram Stories was the platform’s answer to the Snapchat Stories. It hasn’t looked back since and today, there are more than 400 million active Instagram users who also use Instagram Stories.
Instagram Stories not only benefits celebrities and brands; it is also a vital tool for just about every storyteller there is. With it, Instagram users can upload videos and photos online which can be seen by their followers. The content lasts for 24 hours. There is also no limit to the number of photos and videos shared on the platform.
Sharing an Instagram Story is simple and straightforward. Simply tap the camera icon. You can also swipe right. Tap the capture button to capture an image or hold it to record a video clip. You may also upload a photo or video from your phone’s library.
You can add emojis, text, or stickers to the content. Once you are ready to share your content, simply tap the Your Story button located in the bottom left of the screen. If you are new to Instagram, you can buy views on Instagram stories that you post to appear more successful.Tips and Tricks
Although uploading content on Instagram Stories doesn’t need a rocket scientist, there are numerous tips and tricks that you can follow to enhance your content or simply add pizzazz to it.
Here are some of the pointers to keep in mind to enjoy sharing content on Instagram Stories:
Adding a highlight.
Do you want to save stories that your followers can view longer than the limit of 24 hours? Add these to the Highlight section. It’s a handy tool if you want other people to see something special in your life (like highlights of your birthday party) or in case of a business, a promotion to offer.
To share a Highlight story, you have to turn on the Instagram Stories Archive feature. Do this by clicking on Settings then Story Settings and clicking on the “Save to Archive” function. Then on your profile, click the “Add New” button to add a Highlight story.
You may choose from the live stories and archived stories to add to the highlighted stories. Your viewers can then see your Highlighted Stories on your profile.
Mention other users in your Stories.
Do you want to mention other people in your Stories? Tap the letters icon and type @ and the username of the people you want to mention. The username of the Instagram user you mentioned will then appear in the story you uploaded together with an underline. You can mention up to 10 people in an Instagram Story.
Hiding Stories from other people.
You can also prevent certain users from seeing the content you uploaded on Instagram Stories. You can do this by going to your profile and tapping the “Options” button. Tap the “Story Settings” located below “Account” then tap on the “Hide My Story From” function.
You can then select the Instagram usernames from which your story will be hidden from. Then tap “Done” to finish this process.
Hiding other people’s Stories.
One of the cons of Instagram Users is that there is a chance the stories of your favorite account can get lost especially if you follow a lot of accounts. You can remedy this by hiding the Instagram Stories of other users you follow.
To do this, simply tap the home button so that your Instagram feed will load. Go to the top of the feed where the Stories are rolled out. Press and hold the picture of the account you want to hide from your feed and select “Mute” from the menu.
Downloading your stories into your phone.
Instagram Stories are designed to disappear 24 hours after being uploaded. This ephemeral trait of Instagram Stories is what makes it different from the regular photos or videos uploaded on Instagram.
But what if you have taken an image or captured a video that’s so good you want to save it on your camera roll? You can save the content by opening your story, swiping up and tapping the arrow in a circular icon located in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
Adding music to your Instagram stories will make your content stand out from the rest. The good news is that doing so is really easy. Tap and add a sticker while viewing your story. A page full of stickers will come out and then look for the new sticker “Music” located in the second row. You will find a long list of pop music although you can also search for music by moods and genres.
Creating a rainbow text
A rainbow-text effect can make your stories more colorful. To do this, open Instagram Stories and choose an image or video that you want to upload. Type your text then select and highlight it. While the text is highlighted, tap and hold one finger down on the color palette tool located at the bottom of the screen. This should open up the color spectrum.
Keep one finger held down on the color spectrum and use another finger to press on the right side of the highlighted text. Hold down on the color panel then drag both of your fingers towards the left side of the screen.
You will notice that the text will start to change its color as you drag your fingers across the spectrum. You may move your fingers slower or faster for other color variations or alternate the direction across the display to achieve a different result. You can start experimenting with different speeds, palettes, and directions.
As you can see, creating and uploading photos and videos on Instagram Stories is fun. With so many options to choose from, you don’t have to be limited in the styling and presentation of your stories. Try these tips and tricks and make your next Instagram Story more appealing and engaging to your audience.
