When I got my baccalaureate diploma in the year of 2012, I was tasked to choose between many faculties that I was going to study during the coming months, my first choice was the Science and Technology Preparatory School (in French: École Préparatoire aux Sciences et Techniques, now it goes by Ecole Supérieure des Technologies Industrielles) , there were four, each one for each region of the country, I was assigned to east one in Annaba, I had very little knowledge of the this school, but neither it's study and graduation system nor the exact location of its campus, so I had to gather more information about all of that and I got what I needed and that was during the registration period in the same summer.
September came in, the selection students were to gather at the address of the campus we were going to reside at, and what a surprise, there was maintenance work that has been going on since summer and hasn't been finished yet, so the administration had to move the studies to the next month; we got back in October and we found everything ready to start the year, we had to choose a roommate and lucky among all students who got selected from various regions of country, I found one of my classmate, and we agreed to be on the same room.
The first year at the school started, it was very rough at the beginning because we were in an unfamiliar environment but once we adapted to the situation and got to know to each other (because we were small numbered we could get to know everyone) the first year was just fine, the next year came in, we were still on the same campus but we had to change our rooms, some had changed their roomies but my roommate and I stayed together since we live in the same city we could assist each other.
The second year was different, there were more modules to study, and we were challenged by passing the year so that we can have the chance to pass the national contest for accessing higher schools, and yes it was also more rough this time and the year had it's taste because it was the last time we were gathered for more crazy things to do and the souvenirs we could get. During the final exams, almost all of us were accepted to pass the national contest and we had ten days to prepare, both knowledgeably and psychologically, because as someone said to us "the fate of two years is decided in two days".
As expected, we were having a hard time, giving our best to get accepted in on of the school of our choice, then the D-day came in, my roommate and I woke up early so that we don't get late due to traffic jams, we went to the school and we had a visit from our previous headmaster who retired at the beginning of the year, encouraging us to do our best and of course not be stressed or afraid because it was just an exam as usual. They were the roughest two days we ever had, but once we finished it, everyone actually partied, it was a crazy afternoon because it was the last time were reunited with each other, or were we ?
Stay tuned for the next part of my story in the coming weekend.
