It’s safe to say that winter, and especially the holiday season, is magical. With beautiful lights in the trees across our well-known streets, people roaming around with top chocolate cups and colorful scarves and just perfect amount of snow on the ground, there is so much beauty all around us. While just walking from place to place can provide you with plenty of holiday cheer, there are a few activities that I personally recommend you to do this time of year. Enjoy!
There is no better time of year to go ice-skating than December, and lucky for students, a lot of university cities provide public skating time. But you should check the schedule before going because it tends to be busy around holidays. And than, you only need to show off on the ice with your family and group of friends. It is just a perfect group activity for people of all ages so definitely try and check it out! You will create memories for the lifetime!
2.Have a snowball fight like when you were kid
Winter time brings back a lot of childhood nostalgia. We all remember the games we used to play on the snow and the excitement around them. There is no reason to stop now, right? Just don't forget to dress properly. If you want to enjoy yourself, then make sure you won’t freeze outside. Don’t just head out in sneakers, jeans and a sweater under your coat. Think layers and don't forget to include hat, gloves, leggings, etc. If you’re not cold and uncomfortable, you’re more likely to have fun and not run back inside after 5 minutes.
3.Take your dog for a long walk
One of the main benefits of having a dog is the possibility to spend so much time in the nature. And don't be afraid that your dog is going to be cold, keep in mind that animals are much more adaptable to cold weather than we are. And they usually adore snow! Besides, they are such a fun and cute excuse to get outside. Not to mention so many benefits to doing so: being active outdoors is a good way to cut calories and lose weight, the fresh air makes us feel better, and it's a lot more fun than watching TV or surfing the Internet all day.
4.Feed birds and other animals
Don't forget that winter can be very cruel to the animals who are living outside. Help building shelters for abandoned animals, make your own birdfeeders or join different organizations who help animals and homeless people during the cold weather. You will certainly feel much more fulfilled knowing that you did something good for your environment.
5.Enjoy hot chocolate
Even if you are living in a very big city, there is always some hidden, cozy place where you can feel all the winter and Christmas magic. Chose your favorite place, call closest friends and enjoy relaxed evenings together. Despite all the stress because of exams and other obligations ahead, try to take the most of the moment. And that positive energy will give you much more strength in the period to come because when we feel good, our results will be better as well.
