This year we have already seen that the application of Artificial Intelligence has taken some initial steps (in Japan) and has already imposed certain questions to the economy and job market . This trend will continue in the future and most people are still not aware of what will occur when AI takes its full sweep.
At this current moment, when we put aside AI and its possible problems, the world is facing not only climate change, environment and migration problems, but also political disorder, with rising populism sustenance and post-truth affairs, we ask ourselves is there a political will to solve these problems? And most importantly, is there light at the end of the tunnel?
Meanwhile, the UN Agenda 2030 presents a possible solution to these problems . Subsequently, all the UN member states have signed up to the implementation of the Agenda 2030 and Sustainable Development Goals, which although ambitious, presents an ideal future, something that we should strive for. Reaching the 169 targets within Agenda 2030 would mean that finally we have achieved a safe and prosperous life for current population and generations to come. But then, is AI considered at any way in the Agenda 2030?
Therefore, it is necessary at this moment to adequately prepare for changes which will be faced by our generation, but firstly we need to understand them. That’s why this February at the Cambridge Judge Business School, we are organizing the new edition of the Sustainable Development Forum on the topic “Artificial Intelligence Disrupting Sustainability” where our goal is to create a dialogue between leading experts from different fields (academia, business, fin-tech, research and AI obviously) to discuss and propose solutions how education, science, economy and different industries will get disrupted, but also how the leaders will have to consider alternative approaches in the implementation process of the Sustainable Development Goals . Additionally, what are policy makers, businesses, leading international organisations and other key stakeholders doing to prepare themselves for the impending impacts of Artificial Intelligence?
