It is a question that has crossed minds. Many I would like to suppose .How we can help attain goals, global goals to be more specific for the actualization, sensitization and attainment of sustainable development goals. How can we use art, culture, fashion, beauty and elegance to touch the lives of others in our small way, improving the way they live and survive in the world? Don’t we all need to do is do small things in big ways?
A painting, photograph, song and dance and the great field of content creation has so much to offer in terms of sensitization and spreading the need for sustainable development, energy, culture and even food source. In a quite biased study that took place on students who were attending a Model of the United Nations in Nairobi, Kenya students articulated that eradicating hunger being the most important goal. Quickly followed by eradicating poverty and global peace.
Art and progressive cultural practices can be among the best and most effective ways of giving education and knowledge to the younger generation. Progressive cultural practices are those that empower women to be free to access education and one that cherishes freedoms of women and men alike. Practices that do not involve genital mutilation to women, rather those that are meant to foster adulthood in boys and girls. Norms that teach in detail about the effects of drug and substance abuse alongside sex and religion enhance freedoms fostering interactions with persons of varied races and continents spread across the religious divide.
Adopting ways of life with both capitalistic and communistic societies in which ensures that families and children in specific do not go unfed and have access to affordable quality health care with a clear world class standard to alleviate mortality rates reduce considerably .Concurrently ,addressing tropical diseases and common death prudent ailments.
Moreover, use art and photography to shine a light on underprivileged people with problems and are in extreme poverty. Be a voice for the children ,adults ,women and men alike and communities that live without the most basic of life’s necessities ,source a community development approach through their culture and intense capacity building to tap on their wealth, be it livestock keeping or crop farming or other more cultural resources to improve their livelihoods.
Invest in the raw talent found within the youth to enhance wealth creation ,facilitate training in your own way sensitizing on issues of economic growth with songs ,poetry and chants that fit the situation…even slogans that send an empowering message the likes of ‘ aluta continua,nimechill ‘and many more that teach .Its time artists lead the assault on the problems our people face by enhancing a constant reminder that citizens and their fellow man need their help, assistance and greatest of all love .
Take on challenging projects ,realities that seem best unspoken in our ignorant society , take on a task that defies the gravity of your existence, more or less seek to outweigh the bottomless pit of hindrances to claim prosperity over adversity .
