The best conference I have ever attended was the National Model United Nations 2011 at the UN Headquarters where I represented the People’s Republic of China. This conference was great not only for the high level of debate, the enormous number of MUNers and the excellent logistic and organization, but for what it meant to each one of us. In my case, I remember that the preparation for this conference lasted 9 months. It all began with the Model United Nations class the 2010 fall semester. Then, we went through a complex selection process. The months before the conference demanded a lot from us. Our preparation included not only academic topics but sharpened our skills as leaders and speakers. We spent so much time together that we became family.
When we arrived to New York, we were ready to rule!. I remember sleeping 3 hours per day and having delegation meetings that lasted more than the committee sessions! I enjoyed my committee because of the interaction with people from all over the world from whom I learned. It was a friendly environment where it was clear that the objective was not to destroy but to build. When the conference ended, I was a different person. I became a stronger and I valued each moment of preparation that drove us to wining “Distinguished delegation”.
I will always insist that Model UN has a “live changing” effect and I am sure that there will be hundreds of lives changed at TGIMUNC! We plan it to be the best conference ever organized. We expect to build a bunch of good memories, lessons and mind-blowing experiences. I want to invite you all to live great moments at TGIMUNC on June 2016.
