St. Stephen’s Church:
St. Stephen’s Church of Ooty is one of the churches built under British Raj. Some of the attractions here are exquisite wooden architecture, the painting of “Last Supper’, stained glass windows with various scenes of the crucifixion of Christ and Mother Mary holding baby Jesus in her arms. This church has an unusual feature of four ‘hammer’ like structures, tied on Inverted-V shaped wooden planks using wires.When they pulled from the floor, they produce musical sound. A western catchment is the best viewpoint in Ooty, situated 20 km away from Ooty city. Some area of the western catchment is protected by the forest department. In earlier days some regional movies were shot here but now it is not allowed. It attracts most of the tourists due to its cool and pleasant climate.
