As part of the United Nations human rights system, the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR) convenes in Geneva until May 23 to review the reports on human rights' compliance of UN member states. Under the framework of the 52nd session, Armenia, China (including Hong Kong and Macao), Czech Republic, El Salvador, Indonesia, Lithuania, Monaco, Serbia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan are going to present their national reports.
"The committee is composed of 18 independent experts and it monitors the implementation of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights by its States parties. The Committee was established under ECOSOC Resolution 1985/17 of 28 May 1985 to carry out the monitoring functions assigned to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in Part IV of the Covenant."
