As an academic simulation of the United Nations, Model United Nations (MUN) brings the most happening and complex international issues from all over the world to the table in which delegates commonly act out of their ambassadorial roles. Participants - in this case the delegates are assigned to take on roles based on their chosen UN Committees, they are also expected to employ a variety of communication and critical thinking know-how whilst simulating. Moreover, Rewards and Recognition typically will be given to those outstanding delegates in each committee at the end of most conferences. It is undoubtedly true that utmost people around the world are getting familiar with MUN and practiced worldwide, by youths in particular.
Model United Nations (MUN) has been an encouraging platform for youths to become acquainted with diplomacy and international issues as it provides ample opportunities to learn and practice valuable skills such as public speaking, writing, negotiations, problem solving, consensus building, conflict resolutions and corporations. After all, these skills are highly pivotal and useful while embarking on careers in today’s working world. Not only teaches us many things, I firmly believe that MUN will bring us once-in-a-lifetime and life-changing experience. In my point of view, the most top-notch students and future leaders will not be truly the distinguished ones unless they have ever become MUNers.
To some of you who already have very excellent both spoken and written English, it might be a good head start for you to join MUN competitions in English yet there is no guarantee that experts will always come up as the winners. In MUN, it is not fully about how beautiful your English may sound or who is inventively the brilliant one?. It is all about how you can leverage and lead your other fellow delegates to stand with you through fun and down-to-earth ways aiming to create win-win solutions regarding the discussing issue.
