When I was in 8th grade, I gave an oration about mixed-race identity. All of a sudden, faculty and students who had never pondered on the topic became interested. It was then I realized that it is far easier to raise awareness about subjects that you're passionate about.
Currently, I spend my time doing advocacy work for low-income and minority communities. I speak at council meetings, endorse candidates, and register voters in an effort to amplify marginalized voices.
Outside of politics, I have a passion for both teaching and learning. As a Mellon Fellow I spend time doing research and preparing for matriculation into a PhD program. My current research is on the political and religious dynamics in Kosovo. I aspire to produce meaningful research that will help fight the rise of religious extremism.
